Lafayette Studio Big Band
— at Kunde Mountain Top Winery.
Count Basie wrote this tune dedicating it to his puppy dog Splanky.
A nice July day back in 2014 on the top of a mountain at Kunde Family Winery playing big band jazz for a wonderful wedding. 80 degrees, under a huge Oak Tree, 17 of my favorite musical friends doing what we love to do, play big band jazz classics. Allison Gomer on trombone and Steve Deutsch on flute. What a blast we had that day! Lafayette Studio Big Band. Hire us for your event! You'll be glad you did! — Steve Snyder

Four saxophones and nothing else but hot air. But when it’s all under the control of these experienced musicians, it’s magical.

Jamming at Armando's on Blue Monday
Joe Sheeran and Friends play 'Waiting For My YaYa' at Armando's Blues Jam,

Going Somewhere Fast, recorded by The Steve Deutsch Ensemble, took two years to complete and is the culmination of a lifelong dream. I wrote almost all of the music, and did all the artwork, photography, and layout for the CD and jacket sleeve. I was also very lucky that Omar Sosa, the Cuban piano virtuoso, walked into my life for a while and left an indelible mark on the music.
The influences of Eric Dolphy, Duke Ellington, Hermeto
Pascaol, Milton Nascimento, Ali Akbar Khan and Wayne
Shorter can be heard in this music and will be heard
on my next CD as well. I have found the rhythms of
Brazil, Cuba and India to be intoxicating and my compositions
continue today to reflect this.
